Why we built these instead of more articles

Most of what we get asked is arithmetic or a checklist. “What time do I need to get up for a 6 a.m. shift?” is arithmetic. “Why didn't my alarm go off?” is a checklist. Neither needs a thousand words, and both are better as something you can use in ten seconds.

They are free and they are not gated. There is no email capture, no “get your results by entering your address”, and no account. If you use the calculator and never install anything, that is a perfectly good outcome for us.

They run in your browser, and that is checkable

These pages contain no analytics on the inputs, no form posts and no third-party scripts. The QR generator implements the QR specification in JavaScript that ships with the page, rather than calling an image API, which is why your code never leaves the device it was made on.

What we measure, via Vercel Web Analytics, is page views plus a count of how often each tool gets used — that a calculation was run, that a code was generated, that the App Store button was tapped. It is cookieless, and it records the action and never the content: not your shift times, not your label, not the code you made. We keep that count because it is how we know which of these is worth maintaining. It is disclosed in the Privacy Policy along with everything else.
