Grouped by what you actually see. If none of this helps, email support@mornioapp.com and describe what happened, including whether the alarm made any sound at all, which is the most useful detail.
The alarm did not go off
Work through these in order.
- Check the alarm permission. The most common cause on a fresh install. Mornio needs iOS permission to schedule alarms, requested the first time you set one. If you declined, nothing can be scheduled. Check in Settings and re-enable it, then set a test alarm.
- Check the battery. A dead phone is the most common cause of a missed alarm generally. Mornio warns you before an alarm if the battery looks unlikely to last, but it cannot wake a phone that is off.
- Check the alarm is enabled, and that the time and am/pm are what you think.
- Check the iOS version. Mornio needs iOS 26.1 or later. See which iPhones support Mornio.
- Test properly. Set an alarm two minutes out, enable Silent mode and a Focus, lock the phone, and leave it. Then restart the iPhone and test again.
The scanner will not read my code
- Light. The most common cause. Test in the light you will actually have at 6 a.m., not in daylight.
- Surface. Curved bottles and crinkled packaging scan slowly. Flat labels and printed codes are much faster.
- Camera permission. Mornio needs camera access for the Wake Check. Check Settings if the scanner shows nothing.
- A dirty lens. Genuinely worth checking.
- The wrong code. Only the exact code you registered passes. Scanning a similar product will not work, which is the point.
- If it is stuck right now, use emergency dismissal. It always works and never leaves you locked out.
My alarm came back after I turned it off
Working as designed, and it is our most common question. Either the stay-awake check went unanswered so protection restarted, or it was the backup alarm four minutes after the primary.
One known limitation worth stating plainly: on repeating alarms the backup stays scheduled even after you pass the Wake Check, because cancelling it would remove all future occurrences. So a repeating alarm's backup can still ring once you are up. On one-time alarms it cancels correctly. Full explanation on how the stay-awake check works.
It says “Alarm ready” instead of “Protected”
Not a bug. “Alarm ready” means the alarm and Wake Check are set but the full protection stack is not active, which is the free tier after your three Protected Mornings are used. “Protected” appears only when the stay-awake check and backup alarm are active too. We deliberately do not show “Protected” when you are not.
It says the alarm is not scheduled
Usually the alarm permission. Check it in Settings, then use Try again in the app. If it persists, note the exact wording of the error and email us, since the message includes the underlying reason and that is what we need.
I am getting a battery warning
Mornio warns you when your battery looks unlikely to last until your alarm time. It is advisory and dismissible, so acknowledging it will not keep nagging you. It is worth taking seriously, though: a flat phone is the single most common cause of a missed alarm and no feature compensates for it.
I lost Pro after changing phones
Open Mornio's settings and tap Restore Purchases, signed in to the same Apple Account you bought with. Purchases attach to your Apple Account rather than a Mornio account, so there is no password to recover.
Your alarm history does not transfer, because it never leaves the device. That is the trade for having no account, and it is worth knowing before you switch phones.
Can I change the alarm sound?
No. Mornio uses the standard iOS alarm tone. We tested custom tones and found they stopped after a few seconds while the system tone kept ringing continuously, so we chose the one that keeps making noise. It is a real limitation and we would rather explain it than hide it.
Things Mornio cannot do
- Ring on a phone that is switched off or out of battery.
- Detect that you fell asleep. The stay-awake check detects a missing response, which is a proxy.
- Work on iPad, Apple Watch, Mac or Android.
- Guarantee you wake up. For a genuinely critical morning, add an independent alarm on another device.
- Fix not getting enough sleep. If you need the stay-awake check every morning, that is the more likely problem.
Still stuck?
Email support@mornioapp.com. The most useful things to include: your iOS version, whether the alarm made any sound at all, whether you saw a full-screen alert, and what the app's status said. There is no account, so we cannot look anything up about you, which means your description is all we have to work from.
