Wayk is one of the strongest recent entrants in this category, and its ratings reflect that. The comparison with Mornio comes down to three things: how much variety you want, whether you are willing to subscribe before setting a single alarm, and which iOS you are on.

Where Wayk is better

Variety, polish and reach

  • Far more missions, and unusually varied ones. Pushups and making your bed are physical in a way scanning is not, and photographing the sky forces you outside or to a window.
  • iOS 17 and later, reaching many iPhones Mornio cannot.
  • About 18,000 ratings at 4.8 stars, a strong signal that it works for people.
  • Streaks and morning insights, which Mornio does not offer at all.
  • Only Usage Data under tracking, which is a lighter declaration than Alarmy's or SuperAlarm's.

Where Mornio is better

You can actually try it

  • There is a free tier. Wayk's listing states a Pro subscription is required to set alarms and use missions after the setup questions, so you cannot run a basic alarm without paying. Mornio's free tier covers one protected alarm, and three Protected Mornings unlock everything with no card.
  • Cheaper at both intervals on the listed prices: $7.99 monthly against $9.99, and $29.99 yearly against Wayk's tiers running from $19.99 up to $59.99. Note Wayk's lowest yearly tier does undercut ours, so check what you are offered.
  • No account at all, and nothing declared under Data Used to Track You.
  • An immediate follow-up check. Streaks work across days; Mornio's stay-awake check fires minutes after you dismiss the alarm and restarts protection if you ignore it.
  • 6.9 MB against 275.5 MB, and no questionnaire before your first alarm.

A note on subscription-first apps

Requiring payment before you can set an alarm is a legitimate business model, and Wayk's ratings suggest plenty of people are happy with it. But it does mean you are committing before you know whether the missions work on you, which is the only thing that actually matters in this category. If you go that route, set a calendar reminder before the renewal date and test the app properly in the first few days.
